What good does it do to point it out that a few details were incorrect or that you were unimpressed by a photo? Absolutely None. Yes there is free speech, but we also have the freedom to use discretion.

SunTzu: the photo you posted was very touching and moving, not only to myself but likely also to the current VT students, alumni and others.

There's always a few that has to make a point show how uncaring they can be. Someone has to show how unphased they are by events - doesn't matter at the expense of who. It happens everytime something unfortunate is posted.

Let's hope the table never turns on these folks (say, their parents or husband/wife are killed in a car accident for example).

My comments about her have nothing to do with being uncarring towards the situation or unphased by it. I was pointing out that this woman apparantely doesn't care about facts and would just say whatever she wants to try and sway people to her side.

This woman is so caring and concerned that she did nothing to offer any kind of help to this youngster, rather she just shunned and turned her back on him like everyone else. She is trying to be the savior of the world and help the elephants and kids with aids in Africa and save all the children of Wise County by shutting down strip mines, but she can't contact student services or try and talk to Hui or a guidance counselor about what might be troubling him, nope just get him away from me I can't listen to and produce activist propoganda in class when he is presenting this troubling stuff,(and the news has been reffering to her as an activist when she is mentioned)

She was the one who tried to get him to get professional help - but he refused. And since he made no actual threats against anyone he couldn't be forced to a mental facility. The one or two days he spent at St. Albans in 2005 was voluntary. She told campus police about him. But there was nothing they could "do" to or for him.

This statement had more to do with some statements made by others that were genuinly cold, after this statement was made. I had no desire to actually call out specific people, so I could see how you thought I was calling you out, as you did make that statement.

Also...She said she sensed evil. I believe her when she says that. And by making the statement that she would resign if he wasn't removed from her class, she was showing how serious this was. So apparently her intuitions about this crazed...being....were right.

We know that adult competent individuals cannot be institutionalized involuntarily if there is no threat to themselves or others.

What could you (meaning anyone reading this) legally do to Cho that would have stopped him.

He can be weird, freaky, depressed, angry, evil until the end of time but without a legal reason he can't be locked up. Unfortunately his first violent act was also his last.

We can't just lock up all the people we deem to be off, weird, scary. If we did part of this forum would be locked up. All PMSing women would be locked up.
